One American fan film maker started selling DVDs of his Stargate: SG1 parody, and was promptly sued by MGM. The rule seems to be that fan films are fine so long as you don't profit from them. |

As I doubt it'll see any more use in a film, maybe I should put that onto ebay...? I wonder if anyone would want it though. And I've no idea what delivery costs would be - it's not small!
On the subject of making money from fan films, I think it's fine if they are 100% original work like Fluffy - yes we parody the names/characters/ideas of Buffy, but we don't actually use of the copyrighted material from the show. There are plenty of films on release that are straight parodies of others... |
